This is a traditional Victorian or Eastlake period slipper bench or stool, and  was used to store slippers under the seat. "Newer" green upholstery has brass nail head trim, and frame has carved detailing. Top opens to reveal storage space. Made of most likely walnut, circa late 1800s America. Presents well overall, with some marks/wear commensurate with age. There is an old repaired crack on lower leg. Stool is fairly sturdy, has a very slight wobble with heavy leaning on it.
Size is approx. 21 inches long x 17.75 tall x 10.75 deep.
