This auction is for 2 1964 Wide World Photos of Olympic 2-Time Gold Medalist  Abebe Bikila.

The 1st photo shows Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie presenting Abebe with the Order of Menelik. He also received a Volkswagen Beetle and a house.

In the 2nd photo you see Abebe putting on his Uniform of the Imperial Guard of Ethiopia along with his Wife and Daughter.

Abebe won the Gold Medal in the Olympic Marathon Race both in 1960 in Rome(where he ran BAREFOOT and again in 1964 in Tokyo(this time he wore Puma Running Shoes). He was the first runner to successfully defend an Olympic Marathon Title.
