Small Benham silk first day cover with the 2nd class stamp from the ‘Peter Pan’ commemorative set of 5 stamps issued on 20 August 2002.

These commemoratives were issued to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, Peter Pan by Sir James Barrie.

The ‘E’ Stamp on this cover is The Crocodile and alarm clock.

The Cover is postmarked Edinburgh. Barrie enrolled at the University of Edinburgh during which time he wrote theatrical reviews for the Edinburgh Evening Courant. He is one of a long list of distinguished literary alumni the University of Edinburgh continues to cultivate. Others include the likes of the water Scott, Robert Louis Stevenson, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and more recently best selling author Ian Rankin.

The cover has the genuine hand signed signature of Michael MELIA, He is an established British actor best known for his work on television born in 1945. He has played Captain Hook in pantomime.

He appeared in the BBC One soap opera EastEnders in 1990 as pub landlord Eddie Royal.

He joined Dangerfield in the role as Frank Dagley and more recently has appeared as Jerry Block for over 100 episodes of the footballing soap opera Dream Team.

He has made made appearances in numerous crime dramas including the Sweeney, shops, the bill, minder, Monday night, C.A.T.S. Eyes, Campion, The Chinese Detective, Dempsey and Makepeace, Rumpole Of The Bailey, Inspector Morsepector inspector Morse Morse, Maigret, The Detectives, Daylight Robbery And New Tricks.

The reverse of the cover has information entitled ‘The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up’. This is about the author of Peter Pan, J.M Barrie. One of his greatest acts of kindness was the donation of all the proceeds of Superman to the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children which still greatly benefit from the money.

The cover is certified and is number 49 of 500 covers.
