This is a superb framed and glazed Antique Theatre Playbill which is in good condition but does exhibit some age-related wear to the poster itself, which includes some discolouration. The frame is also in good condition but again, does exhibit some age-related wear with some rubbing to the surface, but the glass is free of chips, cracks and restoration.

This playbill is for performances on April 10 1819.

The frame measures approximately 32cm by 22cm

Playbills are posters that were handed out or posted on walls to announce the latest shows and performers. They outlined the evening's programme, which usually started with a two- or three-hour main piece followed by a shorter, often comic, after-piece. The audience could stay for the whole show, or they could sometimes pay half-price to arrive after the main piece. At times the bills warned viewers of last-minute cast changes, with detailed explanations of actors' illnesses or mishaps.
