Unusual Palmwood and hallmarked silver walking stick or cane.
The silver was assayed in Birmingham as shown in the pictures, date letter for 1892
and makers mark for Jonathon Howell & Co Ltd.
The silver top is engraved with a floral design and in good condition with just a couple of minor splits where the engraving has worn near the top edge of the pommel. These are really small and greatly enlarged in the pictures.
The shaft is sturdy and being palmwood which is strong will support a good weight. The grain pattern and colour are really unusual and look better in natural light than shown in the pictures.
It measures 92.3 cm 36 3/8 inches in length, the pommel is 3.1 cm 1 3/16 inches wide and 4 cm 1 9/16 inches long.
The ferrule is original and made of brass and steel.
It's in excellent condition no damage or repairs other than above. The shaft is good and strong and also in excellent condition.
