Antarctica’s Mount Vinson is one of the most treacherous mountains in the world for the combination of its remoteness, wind-blown snow, and bone-freezing temperatures. Rising to a height of 16,050 feet, Mount Vinson has been conquered by 1,200 climbers since it was first ascended in 1966.
This 2022 Mt. Vinson coin—the seventh and final release of the Seven Summit Series—features a detailed depiction of Mount Vinson that literally towers off the surface. It was struck by the esteemed Mayer Mint in Germany, using CIT's Smartminting© technology and released on behalf of the Cook Islands as $25 legal tender. Each coin was struck with an impressive Ultra High Relief finish from five full ounces of highly pure .999 fine silver.
The reverse design displays a colorized depiction of Mt. Vinson, the highest mountain in Antarctica, and features an inscription of the mountain's name, the mountain range, and the 7 Summits emblem. The obverse side of the coin features the portrait of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II, encircled by inscription of her name, the country of issue, and the denomination.
