Original 19th century oil on canvas from the British or French School, depicting a young shepherd standing beneath a tree with his staff, and three of his sheep nearby. Presented in a 20th century ornage gilt frame.
The canvas has been lined and is in a highly stable condition. The surface shows overall darkening and some loss of saturation. A small vertical mark can be found on the boy's face. Fine patterns of craquelure is visible to parts. Other trivial marks and minimal paint loss can be detected with scrutiny. The frame is in very good order and is ready to hang.
