This well executed original late oil painting depicts a view of a waterfall in Fairy Glen Betws-y-Coed, situated in the Conwy River in Snowdonia, North Wales. The work is signed lower left, however, we have not been able to identify the name of the artist. Below it, there is a dating which appears to read '88'.
The work is housed in an 19th century oak frame with a gilded slip. The title of the work is inscribed to the lower centre of the slip, and although its very much faded, it serves the useful purpose of identifying the location of the painting. A later hand-written inscription is found on the verso, which appears to show that the painting was gifted as a present in 1901.
There is a companion piece to this painting, shown together in the last picture, which is also offered for auction via a separate listing.
The work is in very good antique condition with light overall toning and a very light vertically running scratch towards the lower right. The frame remains sturdy and is in very good order. Ready to hang.
