Grateful Dead Fans !!! Offered here is the " 1971 " CD Set ( Brand New ! ) from inside the Legendary ! Grateful Dead " 30 Trips Around The Sun " Box Set - released in 2015 in direct conjunction with the much anticipated " 50-Years ! Celebration of The Grateful Dead " ( 1965 - 2015 ) ... GD 50 !!! And, to honor this Landmark ! Rock & Roll Achievement - Grateful Dead Productions / Rhino released a Limited Edition Box Set ( of 6,500 units ) - to rightfully ' Commemorate ' " '65 "! And in unprecedented ( & So-Cool ! ) fashion ... this Monster Box Set included Thirty ( 30 ) Grateful Dead Shows on Thirty ( 30 ) CD Sets ( 80-CD's in total ) - and, each CD Set represents the sequential years of the Band's 30-Year development ... from 1966 to 1995 ! Obviously, this was a " Deadheads Dream " type Box Set - for the Beyond-Special occasion ... of 50-Years Upon Our Heads ! Fantastic, to say the least ... Wow !!! And, for the 30 Trips " 1971 " 3-CD Set selection offered here - Whoa ?!!! ... Pigpen !!!!! I mean ... my fellow " Good Ol' Grateful Dead ! " Fans - as This-One is an Absolute-Heater !! And, at least for me ( & many, many-others - I rightfully assume ) - This ! 3/18/71 Fox - St. Louis Show is one that I ' Never ! ' had inside my massive Live-Dead Master, Tape, DAT, CD, etc. Collections - dating all the way back to well-over 30-years ago ! And, in fact ... this 3/18/71 Fox Show ( & the 3/17/71 Fox Show ) were Shows that were to my knowledge were ' completely ' unavailable all though the '70's, '80's, '90's & 2000's ! Or, maybe better said - at least I never-ever found them, and never-even ' saw ' them. As these Beauties ! ( at least this 3/18/71 Beauty ! ) must have been nice & Deep ! in that Cherished G.D. Vault !! Let's just put it this-way - neither of these '71 Fox - St. Louis Shows even had the " Set Lists " from the Shows in All ! of the DeadBase issues all-throughout the '80's & '90's Era ! And, there was also ' no ' mention of these Shows at all in ' The Deadhead's Taping Compendium - Vol. 1 ( 1965 - 1974 ) '. And ... though I did indeed ' Hunt ' pretty-hard for at least ' one ' of these Shows - I came up completely-empty. Never even finding a low-quality audience tape. And, if they were out there ( which, they must have been in some form ) - I personally never saw them. So yes ... R.A.R.E. !!!! But, you know ... not any more ! - " Thanks ! " to 30-Trips !! As Pigpen is Hot !!! - and that sure-is the simple tell-tale here on this Awesome ! installment & selection for " 1971 ". And frankly, the whole darn Band ! is Scorchin' !! too - which, back in the " Core-5 " G.D. Era ( Ha ! ) ... you can Really ! Hear-It ... Clean !! Casey Jones ! & Uncle right out of the gate ... with a 3-spot Killer ! version of ' Big Boss Man ' !! - with Pig just Wailing-Away ! like the " Good 'Ol Days ! ". I mean really ... as it's tracks like-this that truly make me ask myself -- " Was there Ever a ' Bad ' Pigpen-Era Show ?!? ". Ha !! Well, you know - I'm sure they're out there ... but, really - Are They ??! As This-Man was a Consumate Live Rock & Roll ' Professional ! ' On-Stage !! ... and right-here it Shows ! Even if he wasn't feeling good health-wise in front of his Loyal ! G.D. Fans - which, we all know he wasn't, very sadly. Bobby McGee & a Hot ! ' Loser ' next. And then ... it is China > Rider !! time. Smokin' !!! And then ... Back ! to Pigpen !! - with " The Rub ! ". And yep, he Drills ! this-one - Big ! With a ' noteworthy ' Playin' ! - ' Cumberland ! ' back-to-back that is just Way-Deep ! ... & then Kickin' ! - Real-Hot ! ' uptempo ' from the deep & exploratory depths of Playin' ! - and, of course ... in just ' Pre ' Europe '72 type form & fashion ! And then - some Vital Big-Stuff ! ... Truckin' > Drums > Other One > Wharf Rat !!! From Rockin' to Deep ! and then on to the subtle & gentle ... and all on one " Magical ! " '71 Live-Dead Stride !! Killer !!! But, then Rockin' ! isn't done yet, and neither is the Pigpen !! ... Greatest Story > Johnny B. Goode ( so yeah ... you know the Boys ( & Garcia ! ) are Dead-On !! ... then NFA ! > GDTRFB ! > Caution !!! > Feedback ! - which is Completely Earth-Shaking ! at times, almost making you feel like you are back ! in-time ... in say '68 !! The Caution ! here Alone !! is well-worth the Ride ! ... a borderline " Legendary " version !!! And, just like the Johnny B. This individual '71 CD Set was very-carefully removed from an entire Brand New / Factory-Sealed 30 CD Set " 30 Trips " Box Set, photographed, then inserted into a brand new removable plastic CD dust cover sleeve. These CD Sets were not individually sealed in factory-sealing shrink wrap inside the Box Set - and purchasing the entire Box Set, was the only way to obtain these Limited Edition ( individually un-numbered ) CD Sets.
