Roseville Crocus vase in a brown, yellow and green configuration.  About 7 inches high with a diameter of about 4 and 1/2 inches at the widest area, near the base.  Well documented line that is rarely signed - this one just has what looks like an "x" incised on the solid yellow colored bottom.  Design attributed to Frederick Hurten Rhead, employing the squeeze bag technique for which he was well known.  Likely made sometime between 1905 and 1912 in Zanesville Ohio.

This vase has a striking arts and crafts period design and it displays well.  Crazing is visible at some angles depending on the light.  There are a couple of small glaze nicks which are hard to see without magnification.  I'm starting the vase off at a relatively low auction price for these reasons.  I have included many photos so you can make your own evaluation of its overall condition.

Please ask questions before bidding.  All sales are final.  Please review the photos carefully, including at close-up magnification.  Selling from my diverse personal collection - be sure to check out my other listings.  Thanks for your interest.

IMPORTANT 05/19/2024 UPDATE:

Per the request of a fellow ebayer, this morning I subjected the Roseville Crocus vase to a thorough examination using 5X OptiVISOR binocular magnification, under both natural and black light conditions. Unfortunately, I discovered an old repair that I did not know existed. It is along the base, near where the vase sits.  I have tried to picture it in two new photos added at the end. The repair proved difficult to photograph because of reflection. The annotated arrows indicate the approximate extent and location of the old repair. To me it appears to be about 3/4 of an inch long by about 1/4 inch wide, and looks like it was done by a trained professional.  When the vase is sitting or displayed I cannot find the repair, only when I turn it over and over and change the angle of the light, while keeping in mind exactly where to look.  I am embarrassed to have missed the repair earlier.

Please feel to retract or cancel any or all bids, considering this new information.  The vase is being sold AS IS, described to the best of my abilities, including this update.  I’m hoping someone will enjoy displaying the vase while overlooking its imperfections, including the glaze nicks mentioned earlier.  I am very sorry for the oversight and any inconvenience.
