Rare, undated but c.1830, small format (roughly 10” x 11 1/4”) pocket map of the state of Ohio, published by Carey & Lea. Note that the front cover is stamped “Carey Lea & Carey Phila”, while the inside is printed with “H.C. Carey & I. Lea”. The inside cover also contains a list of other maps published, as well as some prices.

Condition report: a few short tears along some of the folds, but not distracting. The map was printed on some sort of vellum and retains some abrasions typical with that format. The edges on three sides are trimmed to (or just inside in some areas) the neat line, although I believe this was done at publication and not after market damage. There are some areas of chipping along the peripheral, as well as typical age-associated wear and tear. Covers are rubbed and scratched but solid.

A true survivor, rare in any condition, this one being very suitable for display if framed properly! A must have for any collector of Ohio or Great Lakes maps or historical collectibles!
