It's a Square World
Written and illustrated by Maria Donovan

Paddy, a five-year-old Australian Boy goes with his Mother and his Father, who can't hep being a professor, and Daisy, his young sister, on a round-the-world journey financed by Mr Carnegie, a generous citizen of the United States.

Is it a book for children then? Certainly not. You see Paddy's Mother wrote it, though written it as seen through Paddy's eyes and in the words he would use.

Part child psychology, part travel book, it's mainly about the people who live in Australia, Los Angeles, New York, Switzerland, Italy, Hong Kong and Macao - the places he and his family visit and what he has to say about them. Paddy, you see, is far more interested in people than places.
