Sumbeam Macheara, originally known as a Pilgrim FT (Family Tourer). The build of this car started in 1990. It was obviously too much for the first owner, who sold it in 2015 to a guy who did a bit more on the chassis. It got sold again in 2017 (more chassis work) and 2018 - to the guy I bought it off. Unfortunately he had a stroke so sold it to me in 2021. I finished it got the car registered in May ’23, but although listed as new in 2023 I am in fact the 5th owner. It has done less than 50 miles since being registered. The plan was always to finish it, use it this summer, then sell it. However, due to changing circumstances I have decided to sell this year, so the new owner gets 2 more years mot free. Most things are either new or refurbished (including the engine, new bearings etc. so not yet run in). It is based on a mk4 Cortina with the 2.3 V6 Cologne engine, 2000E 4 speed gearbox and Atlas axle. The chassis was hot dip galvanised when new so will never corrode. Body work is fibre glass and very strong, Pilgrim were renowned for the quality of their kits. A company called Pilgrim still make cars so I had to come up with a new name, always liked Sunbeam Rapier as a name – so changed the N to an M and googled another name of a sword, so it's the only one of it's kind. I have lots of original receipts (which meant it got an age related plate instead of a Q plate. Plus lots of build photos, the original build manual, original receipts from previous owners, Cortina and Carburettor manuals. I have fitted electric windows – had to make them out of 4mm Perspex as the original side windows didn’t seem to fit and couldn’t find any mechanisms on ebay anyway. The original glasses come with the car, plus a few other spares, including a new, old stock cylinder head with valves. This will fit either side of the V. I have fitted a more modern heater (Hyundai Atoz fitted nicely) than the old mini unit it originally came with. The wiring is all new and bespoke and I have created wiring diagrams.

It still needs some finishing though, mainly the body tub repainting – it’s how it came all those years ago, so not glossy and chipped in places. Wings are just about OK. It also needs an air inlet to the heater, never decided how best to achieve that. The bumpers are brushed stainless steel, the intention was to polish them – but they look OK brushed. Exhaust system is fully stainless steel too, has a nice subdued rumble – I’m not a fan of loud exhausts. Strange beast is the Cologne V6 - it only has 4 exhaust ports! Rear road springs could do with being softer too, buts that’s any easy change or could be the rear shox - they look adjustable and could be set wrong.

It seems to be quite sprightly, but I’ve never had it faster than 40mph, but 112Hp in 900 kg gives a fair power to weight ratio of 125HP/Ton.

Any inspection welcome – and encouraged so you know fully what you are bidding on. I have a set of quick lift ramps so can raise it for a look underneath if required.

It stands me at more than double the asking price, but am hoping someone with a genuine interest in it will buy and enjoy it.  Any questions please phone 07805714131.

£250 deposit required on buying, the remainder being either bank transfer or cash on collection.

I noticed that I had the wrong carburettor book shown this had now been corrected but in doing so I managed to delete the old listing and create another. Which means I lost all you folk watching!

So it's now relisted, apologies for being dumb, I don't sell much on eBay!
