This is the most puzzling unusual rare lamp. Made from an alter church candlestick size 22” it’s been converted to a lamp in its lifetime - gold cable no plug probably needs rewiring.

Neoclassical design - possibly french very ornate ebullient ostentatious with lots of detailing - beautiful in other words

The puzzling part is it’s construction into a lamp and what it’s made from exactly

Inside the lamp base up in its depths there is some sort of plaster or stone compound - I assume to weight it down? No idea what the composition is or when it was put in but probably on its conversion as I can see soldering around the top to attach the light fitting part too.

The metal I can’t ascertain - it shows silver gold and bronze in various places - could be bronze or gilt that’s worn with cleaning to a silver tone base in places? There’s a pink hue to the metal patina wise - again wondering if this is cleaning product residue from some vicar’s housekeeper at some point as in three places on the base corners it’s worn away to reveal this white plaster stuff underneath.

Tri footed with unfurled leaf designs this is a wonderful Very large very heavy lamp base it’s not perfect there are many signs of its age and use but it only adds to its allure

Apart from not recognising the metal compound otherwise it’s a stunner - it won’t disappoint it’s a really unique lamp base very striking with clear an interesting history to it 🦚
