A comedy prop, supposed to be a cleaner for the spectators borrowed watch, however when the handle is turned there is a horrible grinding noise like the comedy “watch winders” of old.  When the Magi tips the washer forwards to ostensibly remove the watch or ring, metallic flakes pour out instead.  The Magi, having palmed the object, can reproduce it at will when magically apropos.
