I had the chrome stripped off these blades and finished with gun blue (cold) and white paint fill. This is basically the Oil Can finish, but throughout the set, which is intended to rust over time. I wipe them dry after a rainy round, and in the fall, I brush them with 0000 steel wool and apply a fresh coat of gun blue (non-toxic) to preserve the finish. No gloves or heating needed, just like maintaining a gun barrel. They look sharp and get lots of comments, but they are intentionally rusty.

These blades are for players, little butter knives, not for the faint of heart.
