Well, as most re-enactors will know, this is a re-purposed civil defence helmet dating from WWII, 1941 to be precise, so in its own way, this is a bit of history in its own right.

The original strap attachment points are still there, but someone has added a riveted leather chin strap a la medieval style. As a basic soldiers helmet, it's a pretty good pass for the original medieval helmet design and most mops won't know it is actually WWII.

I have had this lid for years and used it several times, but like the rest of my gear it needs a new home.
