HMS Prince of Wales, 20th August 1941

Midshipman David Roome's censored letter, his eye-witness account,
detailing the events leading to and during the historic
Atlantic Charter meeting between British Prime Minister Winston S. Churchill

Churchill reeked of cigar smoke - a pale aroma hung above each!"

"hundreds of boxes containing cigarettes and fruit arrived for every member of the crew
as a personal gift from the President"

"they have no drinks on board their ships except coca-cola and milk shakes"

Other details include the ceremoinial and religious service held on deck,
including a deck plan and Roome's introduction to the President
