Age and size: On the reverse of this lovely 12 1/4 inch scalloped charger or service plate are the red decorator's mark number 9a and the green underglaze white ware mark number 5 of Elite Works, also known as Bawo & Dotter, one of the great Limoges firms at the turn of the last century.

The decorator's mark was in use between 1900 and 1914. The white ware mark, with the phrase "Elite L France", was in use from 1900 onward. That makes 1914 the latest this plate could have ben produced. Source: Third Edition of the Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gaston.

Design: The plate features beautiful pink primroses, tiny blue flowers and green leaves against a pure white background. Its finely detailed work is in keeping with the exceptionally high quality that made the company's porcelain so famous, and so coveted.

Many of the great porcelain companies produced variations of the classic and hugely popular pattern of delicate pink roses against a pure white background. That means this plate would easily blend into similar sets by many other high quality makers. It would make a lovely display on its own or as part of a collection of fine porcelain.

Condition: The plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, nicks, stains, repairs, utensil marks, crazing or significant wear.
