This is an awesome 1963 TYPE 1 Original Photo of Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali). In this early portrait Clay is seen in a press conference for his upcoming fight with Sonny Liston. Clay had recently scathed by and beat Henry Cooper in their tough matchup which took place in Wembley Stadium. Liston was a intimidating fighter who learned in prison while facing a assault charge. Liston was not well liked by the fans or media but just pounded Patterson two fights in a row. He had beaten 8 of the top 10 contenders in that class. Ali was a 22 year old fighter that had barely got through his last 3 fights but was publicly taunting Listing every chance he got after accepting the fight. Liston had sent Ali that button as a reference to shut his mouth in the media. So Clay is seen here putting the button in his mouth stating to reporters that he is "Buttoning up his lips for Liston".
