You're bidding on a pair of Marx Trains in the classic Santa Fe "War Bonnet" paint scheme. Marx was the largest toy producer in the world from the 1930s to the 1970s, and they were known for their quality. Their trains run well, and are easy to restore. Most parts needed are readily available. These cars both carry a cab number of "1095". This is correct for how they were produced. One is a powered unit, the other is a dummy. Marx produced semi-scale engines and rolling stock in 3/16 scale, or approximately "S" scale, but with O Gauge trucks. They're ideal for smaller layouts, but run great on bigger layouts as well. During the 1950s, both Lionel and Marx capitalized on the Santa Fe diesel's popularity in this paint scheme. No doubt both companies found it to be a top-seller.

All the colors and graphics are still pretty vivid and bright, but could benefit immensely from a thorough cleaning and some motor work. When I put the powered unit on my test track, I heard a loud buzzing, but got no movement in either direction. I'd use electrical spray cleaner and properly lubricate everything to get it running smoothly. With Marx, on many occasions, this is all you need to do. I have a photo pointing to some minor paint damage. It looks like an excessive amount of modeling glue was placed here at some point. The shells are good with no cracks or other imperfections noted. You could always swap shells and use the donor car for additional parts, or this area could be repaired by someone with the proper skills. Note that couplers are different than most any other O Gauge train sets, but proper couplers can be adapted relatively easily. Please look at the photos carefully, because they're a large part of the description.
