Every year a different national forest is selected to provide a tree to appear on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol building for the holiday season.

The 2023 tree is a 63-foot, Eight thousand pound Norway spruce from the Greenbrier Ranger District in West Virginia's Monongahela National Forest. Decorated, The tree has 5,000+ Handmade Ornaments and 5,000 LED Lights.

Military families also received donated Christmas trees from Monongahela National Forest as part of the annual tradition.

West Virginia has been selected three times to provide the National Christmas Tree, 1970 Richard Nixon President, 1976 Gerald Ford President and 2023. This glass ornament commemorates the 2023 event!
