The kit includes a mane on hide, a forelock on hide and a tail, and is best suitable for horses without a neck slot, it is supplied with nails and pins and our full fitting instructions. The mane is cut from natural hide and the length of the piece of hide for the mane is approximately the following measurements:
Small is approx. 9" (22.5cm)
Medium is approx. 11" (27.5cm)
Large is approx. 13" (32.5cm)
with the forelock being approximately 1-1.5" (2.5-3.5cm).
It is your responsibility to order the correct size for your horse but please do contact us if you are unsure. As a guide we recommend you measure from approximately 1" (2.5cm) behind the horses ears, along the top and to about half the way down the back of the neck and choose the nearest option. For the tail we provide a bundle of hair enough to fit the tail hole.
Please note that as horse hair is a natural product there will be variations in the colour and thickness of the hair supplied, however as a guide the length of the hair is usually between 24" (60cm) and 30" (75cm).It is always left at its natural length.
