 JAMES WILCOX

(1778-1868)

IMPORTANT BUILDINGS ETC

James Wilcox was an accomplished landscape artist of the early 19th century.

This small series of his works dating from c 1802-1857, mostly in ink and wash, depict various important buildings and one very rare watercolour of Brunel's Great Eastern in dock at Millwall in 1857 just before its launch in 1858.

They are all of fine quality and are mostly in extremely good condition allowing for their age.    All are within their original mounts.

The very fine ink and wash drawing is of The Gateway to St.Augustine's Monastery, Canterbury.     It is signed and dated 1798 at bottom right.
