Hamilton Tile Works, Hamilton, OH 1883-1901   This antique tile is about 100-125 years old. Hamilton Tile Works was started by Adolf Metzner, who started making tiles in his backyard. In 1901 he went to work for American Encaustic Tiling Co, then on to C. Pardee Works in NJ.      High-glazed chocolate brown covers the raised grape leaf motif. For its age, it is in pretty good condition.  Has a small edge chip.  Signed.  There are some reflections from overhead lighting in the photo.   Measures 6" x 6" x 1/2" thick.
