A very fine French certified violin bow made by Marcel Lapierre ca. 1960, branded on the stick, certified by J.F. Raffin, Y. Le Canu and S. Bigot. Marcel Lapierre was trained by Jerome Thibouville-Lamy and later worked with F. Lotte, Morizot brothers, L. Bazin and E.A. Ouchard. The style of E.A. Ouchard was the most important influence for Lapierre. This is a fine and characteristic example of the maker's work. The stick is red brown pernambuco, octagonal, with a very beautiful and powerful sound and a excellent balance. The length of the stick is 73.2 cm and the weight of the bow is 60 g. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. This bow is in excellent condition with an original winding and grip and it will be sold with the letter of appraisal for the value of $8,000.00.
