New Thermitrol or Klixon (a division of Sensata) 7AM Series Snap Action Temperature Switches, or Thermostats, Possibly Motor Protectors; Part Number N7AM429A5 or 7AM429A5.  Each bid quantity is for a Lot of Ten (10) Switches.  You may bid / buy any number of lots, up to the total quantity available above.

These were purchased at an industrial liquidation earlier this year.  They were brand new in a non-factory box, and we packaged them in heavy Ziplok bags.  These are quality little switches if you can figure out the part number.  We don't have any idea what the "N" prefix means.  We know that the "7AM" designation is the switch series.  The "429" should designate the internal disc type (high resistance or low resistance), along with the opening temperature.  We can't find anything else about that.  "A" means the leads are both on the same end, which we already know from looking at them.  Last, the "5" means they have a 5% opening temperature tolerance.

WE DID find a "429" temperature rating under a model SJ7AM, although we don't know if the specs translate to this model.  According to the Thermitrol catalog, those are used primarily for "appliances" (didn't say what kind), and are rated for 10 amps @ 240VAC, and 12 amps @ 208VAC.  It shows a temperature range of 65C to 110C for the "429."  Seems like a pretty wide range.  The Thermitrol catalog is located at (5MB PDF File):

According to the Manufacturer:

The Klixon® 7AM Thermal Protector is the market leader, backed by proven innovations in protection technology. The 7AM is a thermally operated snap action device which delivers the maximum protection in the smallest package at an affordable price. The 7AM is a proven performer in protection technology with over 35 years of design experience combined with a modern state-of-art manufacturing facility.

Operation

The operating principle of the 7AM is both simple and effective. At the heart of the protector is a Klixon® bimetal snapation disc. When the temperature of this disc reaches its precalibrated temperature it snaps open, resulting in an open circuit. This temperature is reached during a fault condition, caused by either an increase in ambient temperature, in increase in current flowing thru the disc, or a combination of both. After the 7AM breaks the circuit, the system cools and the 7AM automatically resets allowing power to be restored in the circuit.

Quality

Each 7AM rating has a bimetal disc designed and manufactured for the specific temperature rating. Each individual device is then calibrated and checked for opening temperature. This results in precise operating characteristics necessary to achieve consistent, reliable performance over the required life cycle.
