A very fine French certified violin bow made by Marcel Lapierre ca. 1950, branded on the stick. Marcel Lapierre was trained by Jerome Thibouville-Lamy and later worked with F. Lotte, Morizot brothers, L. Bazin and E.A. Ouchard. The style of E.A. Ouchard was the most important influence for Lapierre and there are many similarities in details. Bows made by Marcel Lapierre are nicely made, highly sought after and represent great value for their excellent tonal and handling quality.
This is a fine and characteristic example of the maker's work. The stick is medium brown pernambuco, octagonal, with a fine and well projecting sound and excellent balance. The length of the stick is 72.6 cm and the weight of the bow is 59 g. The frog is ebony with silver mountings. The button is ebony with silver cap.
