Rare, original work by Rolland Hendrickson, famous for his 1970s risque boudoir art. He was particularly proud of certain pieces of his work and this portrait hung in the main room of his Newport Beach home and studio. His process is subtle and intricate. After photographing the model, he developed toned prints in his own darkroom & used special textured filters. He then brought additional color into his work with a combination of fine artist's colors and pencils to create his final masterpiece. The portrait has his penciled signature in the top right corner

This original hand-colored photo shows a Medieval Beauty in courtly dress with conical hennin and ample cleavage.

Hendrickson's many photographic works, including this one, have a uniquely American quality that recalls a specific era in the 1960s and 70s when the public at large had a nostalgia for old-fashioned styles and ideals (but in Hendrickson's case ~ with a sexy twist). His works are carefully staged, glorify the beauty of the female form, and have a subtle lighting and charm while still exhibiting surprising small details.
