This is a handmade hairpin from Tampaksiring, Bali.
Beautifully made, this decorative hairpin looks very striking on with its eyecatching metal design. The natural wood is stained dark brown in colour and the metal leaf design is beautiful! Each pin is quite unique! They give a beautiful touch to your long hair when it is pinned up, and also make a wonderful gift for others. This wavy two pronged pin measures approx 4.2 cm in width near the end and 20.5 cm in length (usuable length 10.7 cm), weighing approx 17 g. It is handmade from white metal and Sono wood (sometimes called Rosewood), a sustainable and durable hard wood which holds up well in moving to dry colder climates, and has beautiful markings. It is much more common than other tropical hardwoods of comparable beauty- some of which have been sadly overused and now have become rare. These are listed as muliple listings so may differ slightly being handmade from a natural material.
This product is made in Tampaksiring, a little town in the centre of Bali. We first spotted these lovely hairpins in Yogyakarta and bought some there, and by an amazing coincidence we met the maker while travelling home via Bali. We buy direct from the maker – resulting in fantastic prices for you!
