We have seen knock off products from time to time, and we purchase them along with other competitive products to inspect and understand them.  The major difference between ours and theirs is in the laser quality, and in the quality of construction.  

Our lasers are commercial grade Class IIIa diodes while the vast majority of the competition is using Class I (laser pointer grade).  The spray patter of Class IIIa is much brighter, wider, and denser.  The visual effect is overwhelmingly better.  Class IIIa lasers are also rated for a much longer lamp life.  Typically a Class I diode will last about a month under normal use.  Ours are rated for 7,000 to 10,000 hours.  That is typically 4-5 years of use.

The 2nd major difference is in the quality of construction.  Most of the subprime competitive products are constructed of plastic or very low grade tin.  This is anotehr reason why they do not last long when placed in the elements.  Our casing is made of all-weather commercial grade UV coated aluminum.  They will not corrode or break down in either heat or cold.  Because of the construction, our illuminators are also IP rated for water resistance under normal conditions (rain, snow, sprinklers, etc).

Ours are designed to be used in the front yard during the holidays and then migrate to the back yard for the rest of the year to enhance pool, patio, and landscape areas.  There just simply isn't enough product life or visual effect for our competitors to achieve this.
