Product Description
Nathan Followill and his younger brothers Caleb and Jared are the sons of a hardshell Pentecostal preacher based in Mount Juliet, Tennessee and his equally devout wife, and they spent much of their childhood cris-crossing the South in the back seat of a car as their dad preached whenever and wherever he could. It hardly sound like a typical upbringing for rock stars, especially since they'd spent their youth being told popular music was sinful, but in 2002 the Followill Brothers teamed up with their cousin Matthew Followill and formed the band Kings of Leon; the group's soulful blend of Southern rock and Alternative rock clicked with audiences, first in England and later at home in the United States, and they've become one of the most popular touring acts in rock today. Stephen C. Mitchell, a longtime friend and confidante of the Followill Brothers, offers a look into their lives as both siblings and musicians in the documentary TALIHINA SKY: THE STORY OF THE KINGS OF LEON. In addition to extensive interviews and footage of the band on stage, the film includes rare home movies and a look at a family reunion in Oklahoma where the boys' parents speak freely about their upbringing. TALIHINA SKY received its world premiere at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival.
