This is a hand carved shawl pin from Tampaksiring, Bali.
Beautifully made, this decorative shawl pin looks very pretty on. The natural wood is variagated in colour. Each pin is quite unique! They are very popular as shawl pins, the carved oval piece looks gorgeous in a loose knitted shawl or scarf or wrap. They give a beautiful touch to your clothing when it is pinned up, and also make a wonderful gift for others.
This shawl pin measures approx 8 cm in width and 8 cm in height (pin length is 13.8 cm), weighing approx 12 g. It is made from Sono wood, a durable hard wood which holds up well in moving to dry colder climates, and has beautiful markings. It is much more common than other tropical hardwoods of comparable beauty- some of which have been sadly overused and now have become rare. These are listed as multiple items, so may differ slightly being handmade from a natural material.
This product is made in Tampaksiring, a little town in the centre of Bali. We first spotted these lovely shawl pins when buying our usual hair pins as they are made by the same people. We buy direct from the maker – resulting in fantastic prices for you!
