These sapphires are made by the flame fusion method to produce eye clean gems, the material is the same mineral(corundum) as natural sapphires just the process that takes millions of years in the earths crust is shortened to weeks in the laboratory. 

These gems have the same hardness and beauty as the naturally formed stone and are indistinguishable from natural stones without using specialist scientific apparatus.
