MAP Sensor is short for Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor.
It's purpose is to sense the manifold pressure in the engine, therefore it applies the right amount of gas with the right amount of ignition timing.
This allows the car to run and perform smoothly.
If your MAP Sensor is faulty, the right signals are not being sent to the computer, resulting in the poor running of your car and a loss of fuel economy.
