Ethel Easton was an American genre artist who studied under the very famous American artist and teacher William Merritt Chase. She married a Mr. Paxson and is listed under his surname
This fine example of her early work, probably executed whilst under Chase's tutelage, is a study in sepia wash of a Middle Eastern rifleman.
It is in fine condition within a simple mount and is signed at top right.
It dates circa 1910.
