Extremely Rare 1940s 800 Silver Alpha Romeo Mercedes Silver Arrow Grand Prix Race Car Charm !! The charm is marked 800 and (CH) and the bale has a mark as well, which is very interesting since it is only composed of gilt 800 silver and is tiny, which indicates it is an import little thing ! The wheels are free spinning, and the charm is very intricate as illustrated in the provided images. Weighs approximately 1.8 grams. Approximately 2.4 cm (15/16 of an inch) in total length including bale fully extended, and approximately 1 cm (6/16 of an inch) in width from wheel to wheel. After some research I came to the conclusion that the charm was created circa 1944 in celebration of the Grand Prix races ! The charm is designed to resemble the Mercedes Silver Arrow of 1934 which in turn strongly resembles the 1937 Alfetta 158 so commemorating the Grand Prix and both racing cars ! The charm inspired and made after the Silver Arrow (Silberpfeil) which would be logical since it is composed of silver, so perhaps the ten year anniversary for the 1934 Silver Arrow ! Regardless the charm is the loveliest tiny thing I have seen celebrating either or both the 1934 Silver Arrow and or the 1937 Alpha Romeo Alfetta 158 ! This is the coolest charm with regards to the Grand Prix and racing, and made contemporary to when these beauties were being produced and racing. The Germans definitely built the most beautiful and functional machines in their era, and the Silver Arrow showed the best of German engineering, proving that they were the most advanced in building superior engines and machines. This charm is extremely rare and made during the toughest of times and celebrating those great feats !
