ANTIQUE GEORGIAN PERIOD 9K GOLD LOVE HEART SEPIA MINIATURE MOURNING BROOCH c1790  

An antique English, solid 9 carat gold (tests thereabouts) brooch; finely made, and set with a gently rounded glass over a finely hand painted sepia mourning miniature, beautifully depicting a maiden placing a heart onto a flame-topped plinth, with a dove flying above.

A totally original Georgian period mourning brooch in fabulous condition...immensely collectable & wearable too!

CONDITION: All original and very, very good. Slightest signs of wear and very faint denting to back commensurate with age and use. Faintest scratching to glass & evidence of some ageing to contents - please see pictures.

DATE/MARKS: Around 1790. Not marked.

DIMENSIONS: 35 x 25 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.

WEIGHT: Approx. 7.6 grams.
