At 17 tracks in length, this Best Ballads compilation covers ground already treaded by the excellent Essentials greatest-hits disc and 2003's outstanding Love Songs compilation. The parallels are so similar, even the most diehard of fans might be mildly chaffed at the amount of crossover between the three discs. But Love Songs does a good job keeping the Toto reissue machine rolling along in fine form, with the strongest moments in their catalog all making obvious appearances, including "Africa," "Rosanna," and "I'll Be Over You." While some songs could have been replaced with others ("Right Part of Me" deserves a spot on this disc somewhere) and some of the filler/fan favorites could have been trimmed, this will appease casual listeners who have been looking for Toto's softer moments compiled on one disc. ~ Rob Theakston
