Also known simply as Sintesis, this is something of a rarity: a progressive rock band from Cuba—and they’re great, at that! En Busca de una Nueva Flor is a very interesting mixture of traditional prog and folk elements, plus “Nueva Trova,” an epic Cuban song style. Soft, elegant, and beautiful, this is sometimes in the vein of Renaissance or Nirgal Vallis. Very nice interplay between male and female voices (in Spanish), chorus, electric guitars, Moog, piano, organ, even harpsichord. There is a romantic Latin-American feel to many of the themes that will appeal to fans of Spanish and Italian prog. The song “Poema” has beautiful lyrics written by Pablo Neruda. Highly recommended. Released in Mexico on Discos NCL in 1979. Still sealed copy with tight shrink wrap that causes a slight waviness to cover.
