You are purchasing one new reproduction ignition switch as used on all 1948-1967 Harley-Davidson big twin, lightweight single Hummer, and 45 models (Not used on 45" K Model). I've been in this business for many years and would never sell the reproduction ignition switches because they were constructed like junk and they were an obvious re-pop at a casual glance.
I've included photos next to an NOS WWII era switch for comparison and another photo with it inside the hole on a three light dash to show it does fit properly and not leave a huge gap.
This switch not only uses current production Briggs & Stratton keys and tumbler but it actually has the shape of the original switches, and the flip top is finally shaped correctly with a downturn where you lift it. There might be details an AMCA judge would pick apart at a very close glance so this might not be for you purists going for a 100 point restoration.
The terminal plate is oriented with three terminals to the rear and two to the front as was done from 1948 forward. It has the 1936-1947 style tumbler with the pins and key code stamping. It will fit any fat bob dash H-D used from 1936 to 1967 on Knucklehead, UL, WL, Panhead, and Shovelhead but is considered correct due to the terminal ring or plate orientation with the three terminals toward the back and two toward the front.
We do sell the same switch with the terminals oriented with two facing the back and three forward for use with 1936-1946 dash plates for 1936-1947 models on another listing.
Sure it's made off shore, I'm willing to bet the switch on your late model H-D is too. I wouldn't sell it if I didn't think it would hold up and didn't look like an original part.
