'Clear' means that the adhesive is clear and not the standard black adhesive used in auto mounting tapes.  However, the adhesive is embedded into a foam core and the overall appearance is gray and not transparent.  This means that when a molding is attached to a vehicle that there is a seamless blending of the molding to the vehicle and not a black outline line at the meeting edges.

The length of the 3M soft pliable tapes is the stated length on the core, eg. 9.8 feet (3 meters)….  However, the applied length of these tapes depends on whether they are compressed or stretched during application, ie compressing decreases the applied length, while stretching increases the applied length.  Sometimes compressing is need to fill deeper molding recesses and when attaching a molding to an irregular surface, while stretching is appropriate for thin or no recesses in molding and applied to a smooth regular surface.

I suggest adding about 30% to the surface length of your project to allow for applied shrinkage.  Otherwise, the tape needs to be applied with tension to achieve core length or a longer length.  Easier to have an excess on hand, then to run short.
