Most vintage tube testers test tubes by using fixed bias. So, if you are trying to compare test results between the AT1000 and other testers, this is the best way. The Tube Museum ALWAYS choose the "fixed bias mode" while testing our tubes. We only test in the "fixed-bias" circuit, this way drift or aging of the tube will not be compensated for, and your tube’s TRUE performance will be displayed on the LCD display, so you KNOW what you are REALLY buying!
Here is the "E80CC" Amplitrex Set-Up Data Screen. The heater is a TRUE 6.3 volts, testing at the correct 90 eP with a mA Specification of the true factory data of 6.0mA and a GM or mutual-conductance (also known as mA/V) of 2.70mA/V or 2,700 Gm.
There's no fooling around at the Tube Museum with meaningless claims like "tests strong!", or some arbitrary number like "the tube test 82 with a minimum of 75" and no maximum stated! We always give you the test results FACTORY-DATA so you can compare with the real factory data sheets in mA and mA/V, just like the original factory data sheet! (specifications).
