A comparative search has been conducted for coins of similar condition recently sold at auction both within the United States and Internationally to establish a baseline price. Soiled coins may undergo a mild cleansing with an anti-bacterial soap and final preservation with the most expensive sealant used by the British Museum of Coins (BMC); Renaissance Wax, which is applied with a light cotton buffing cloth. If additional cleansing is necessary, wax is applied using a jewelers polishing tool with a nylon brush to bring out their luster. No harsh chemicals or abrasives are used.
