This is the first time we've come across the Admiral Model 28-5G.
AM Band AC/DC Portable Radio.
It was made during WWII, so there was very little metal used. The radio is mostly made of a Catalin-like marbleized plastic and faux-leather, with brass trim. The model was made for emergency use.
This is a very unique piece. The antenna of the 28-5G was built into the door flap and the shape of the radio was styled to look like a camera.
There are NO cracks to the plastic - the radio is in very nice original condition.
The original leather strap is missing.
A previous owner added to the inside door flap a daguerreotype (photo) of a woman that is not typical of the 1940's.
There are a few holes drilled into the back of the radio and the volume dial is frozen.

Measures 4.5"L x 9" H x 4"D

This is a very special radio and a real coup for the serious radio collector!
