Here we have a vintage Hardy Sunbeam 5/6 fly reel with extra spool. This classic reel has an adjustable click pawl drag system, with a good range of tension settings, and that sweet Hardy sound. Line capacity is about 100 yds. of 20 lb. backing with a WF5F line. Spool diameter is 3 1/4 in., and it's lightweight, at about 4.4 oz.
The reel looks like it has seen a fair amount of use, with some normal usage scuffs and scratches. There is one area along the right hand side, line guard opening and the adjacent frame that has blistered paint, with some peeling. Agate ring on the line guide has no cracks or chips. The round cover on the opposite side line guide is present. Working condition is very good with both spools. The spare spool has tarnish on the chromated rim facing, and a counterbalance has been added. Both spools have Cortland 444 WF6 lines on them, but they look ancient, so you'll probably want to replace them . Retrieve direction is currently left hand wind, and it can be converted to right (instructions included). The double decker reel/spool case is in sound shape. It is made in the U.S.A. by Dart Mfg. The shearling interior has stains.
