Description:

The My-Cap tPACK allows you to reuse and fill your own discs. Fill them with your favorite coffee and reuse them many times before they have to be thrown out. This lowers the cost to brew each cup and also gives you better brews each time. In addition, you will be reducing your environmental impact. Each time you reuse a disc, you reduce the cost even more on a per-cup basis. The more you use them, the cheaper they get.

This package contains enough plugs and top seals to make 6 single hole reusable discs if you use one hole per disc.  If you use 2 holes per disc you can make 3 reusable discs.

Questions and Answers?

Q: What brewers will the disc work in?

A: These refillable, reusable discs can be used with compatible brewers. This includes T-20 (T20), T-45 (T45), T-46 (T46), T-47 (T47), T-55 (55), T-65 (T65), and T-300 (T300) brewers.

Q: How many times can the disc be reused?

A: You should be able to reuse them over 10-30 times depending on how careful you are. It is pretty durable.

Q: Why use the a reusable disc?

A: The primary reason is cost. Reusing a disc reduces your cost per cup significantly. In addition, you will help the environment by not using as many discs.

Q: What coffee grind should I use?

A: The coffee grind that you need to use will vary depending on which type of disc you are reusing.  To be sure, when emptying one of the discs, feel the coffee between your finders and this is what you want to put back into the disc.  In general, make sure you are using a good coffee, preferably something with a bold strong taste. The finer the grind the bolder and stronger the taste. If you are making an espresso, the grind MUST be an espresso grind. If you try to use regular drip style coffee it will come out weak.

Q: What about the bar codes?

A: My-Cap does not supply barcodes with this package.  We recommend that you reuse a disc type that you want to make reusable.  When you do this the barcode is already on the disc. Discs use a bar code to control the brewer. Things like water temperature, cartridge charge (loading the disc to soak), flow rate, volume (how much water you get in the cup), and purge (final phase of the brew cycle). Each of these characteristics are different for the different types of coffee you would like to brew.

Q: How do you rinse the disc out with one hole?

A: It sounds impossible, but actually it is easy.  If you hold the disc under a water faucet so that the hole is partially in the flow, it creates a swirl effect inside of the disc that agitates the coffee particles inside of the disc and it then comes back out the side that is not under the flow. Try it, it works great.

Q: I pushed the plug too far. How do I get it out?

A: We have made the plug so that it flares out and is harder to push all of the way inside of the disc, but it still can happen if you push to hard. Do not worry. You can either just destroy the disc by pulling the foil off to retrieve the plug and then discard that disc and create another one.  Or you can use tweezers and hold the disc so that the hole is down and above you. You should be able to grab the plug with the tweezers and grab it and pull it out.
