The Willys MB (commonly known as a Jeep, formally as the U.S. Army Truck, 1/4 ton, 4x4) is a four-wheel drive utility vehicle that was manufactured during World War II. Produced from 1941 to 1945, it evolved post-war into the civilian Jeep CJ, and inspired both an entire category of recreational 4WDs and several generations of military light utility vehicles. Willys JeepDesigned to meet a US Department of War requirement for a light, cross-country reconnaissance vehicle, the Willys MB Army Jeep was manufactured between 1941 and 1945. The Willys Jeep was the original version of what would later become one of the most iconic vehicles in American history, evolving into a popular civilian vehicle that is still being produced today. The Willys Jeep was a compact, four-wheel drive vehicle that rapidly became one of the most prolific vehicles of WWII. More than 640,000 standardized versions were produced, with 8,690 other versions built over a period of four years.© Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
