its seeds and leaves, as an herbal remedy. The plant, which is also known as bitter gourd, cerasee and balsam
pear, is native to tropical parts of Asia, Africa and South America. Bitter melon can be eaten fresh or taken in
a tea made from a tincture or juice. Bitter gourds are extremely low in calories but are loaded with other nutrients
like vitamins B1, B2, B3, and C, magnesium folate, inc, phosphorus, manganese and dietary fibers.It is also rich
in iron, beta-carotene,calcium and potassium. It also contains a unique phyto - constituent and an insulin-like
compound known as polypeptide P.
