Up for sale is a true audiophile classic, the Pioneer SX-980 receiver. This was and still is considered to be one of the finest stereo receivers ever made and has a solid reputation among audiophiles for its amazing sound and build integrity. This 980 has had one owner its whole life and has been very well taken care of, very clean inside and out, recently serviced and working 100%. The woods sides and top are scratch free. The face is in amazing condition with only very minor signs of age and the top grill is mint. All original bulbs and indicators for you purists. Some small spots on the tuning dial "see picture #8". The quality of sound is worth all the hype and accolades this receiver gets. The EQ and filter section are extremely musical with glistening highs and an ultra big but tight bottom end.
It was already in great working condition when I brought it to my tech. He wound up re-soldering several switches inside the front panel, cleaned all the pots and switches and gave it a full bench test. Everything is firing on all cylinders with all bulbs, switches, knobs and controls working perfectly. All the VU meters work including all the corresponding indicators. My tech said hes never seen a 980 in this good condition.
